Captain, status report!

There’s lots happening but at the same time not a lot to say about it. Hopefully that makes sense, but since sleep left me hanging so many hours back, anything goes.

The lot of action part is Velocity. This past week has been one long writing tear, the likes of which I’ve never experienced. What kind of tear? Oh 9 pages a day kind of tear. Yeah, boggles my mind too.

Let’s just say it’s coming along. I’m thinking about posting some of the Ridge Runner or Velocity. Either that or a short story. Before that can happen, tech guy needs to work out some kinks with the site.

Spike, the graphics guru designed some nice t-shirts. We’ve been going back and forth on the Buddhapuss one. It’s hard to make a huge black cat look like something other than a chocolate bunny rabbit when there’s but one color to work with. Spike will get it though. He got us through the “interesting study in coffee au lait” color scheme, so he’s proven he can deliver.

So yeah, that’s it for today. I’ll be funny on Saturday for sure…

Tax man cometh

Once again, the deadline for the IRS to help themselves to the wallets of hardworking Americans and settle up for tax year 2003 has arrived.

I’ll miss you tax year 2003 and all the money you brought. Now I shall mourn the loss of that income earned but not kept.

And just in case the memory of this neat feeling fades away any time soon, the next deadline for filing quarterly returns is July 19th. Hot dog!

Please excuse me, it’s time to sob uncontrollably. I’ll be funnier ( and a little lighter ) on Thursday.

When the rain comes

Here’s a quick State of the Union

1) Do I have an agent – don’t know yet. The official answer is maybe.
2) What’s going down with Velocity? About 150 pages is what’s going down. Should be closing in on the halfway point.
3) Other projects. Unfortunately I have more ideas than I have time. The next project won’t be Mike Brody. A friend of mine and I were kicking around some ideas for a thriller and stumbled upon a pretty trick backdrop. It’s going to be in third person, omniscient perspective. It’s going to be a one-of kinda thing. No recurring characters. One shot, hit or miss.

It’s perfect weather outside today, so I’m off with the wife for a day hike.

It’s the end of the beginning

I’m having a lot of trouble sleeping these days. There are 3 possible reasons:
1) The weather. Why is it snowing all of the sudden? Spring was so close, now it’s so far away.
2) No news on the agent front. But that one is out of my hands.
3) My cat Oedipus is trying to kill me. The vet said he had to lose 2 pounds or else so he’s on a diet and exercise regimen. He’s not taking well to the forced calorie reduction and Stairmaster workouts and he blames me. It’s quite possible he will snuff me as a message to the wife. Each night he circles the bed for hours at a time, waiting for his chance to place a giant paw across my mouth. If updates cease to this blog, that is why. The coroner may rule it sleep apnea but it was a homicide.
